ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

Enrollment of children is open to all parents who are in accord with the Mission and Vision of Duncan Christian School. In order to ensure that harmony between what is taught at home and school may be possible, all parents who wish to enroll children at DCS are asked to come to school for a brief interview. Students in grades 3 – 12 are asked to be a part of the interview. Kindergarten – grade 2 students may want to meet the principal informally.

To begin this process, please contact the school or drop by and request a registration packet (please note that the office is closed in July). We would be happy to mail one to you if that is more convenient. To request a registration and information packet, please contact us by phone, (250)-746-3654, email (office@duncanchristianschool.caThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. FINANCES

General Income - As an independent school, finances for the operation of Duncan Christian School must come largely from the parents (tuition) and the concerned community (donations). You may receive a Charity Receipt, for income tax purposes, for a portion of tuition paid in the calendar year. Early in the calendar year this amount will be determined by the bookkeeper and official tax receipts will be issued. Donations are always gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. Tuition assistance is also appreciated for families who cannot cover the full tuition.

Government Assistance - Income from government grants is incorporated into the tuition rate structure. Without these grants, the rates would be much higher. Government grants are available to all group 1 and 2 independent schools in British Columbia who qualify under the "Independent Schools Act" passed in 1989. Duncan Christian School is classified as a group 1 independent school, and as such, has had the following requirements evaluated and passed by the Ministry of Education:

- curriculum

- teacher qualifications

- instructional time allotments

- inspection by an external evaluation team

- participation in Foundation Skills Assessment Program
