DCS is so thankful for Ms. Sarah Dykman, our new Kindergarten teacher! She has so much energy and love for these 5 year olds. She answered a few questions to help us introduce her to you:

Name: Ms. Dykman
Role: Kindergarten Teacher

What excites you about learning?
"My favourite part about learning in Kindergarten is the wonder and curiosity-whether that takes place in a classroom or in an outdoor learning space! I love hearing the questions or comments students bring to the surface. It shows me they are learning to connect what they already know with new concepts and ideas they are learning. It is exciting to be part of their learning journey!"

Why are you glad to be part of our team?
"I would like to thank this team for their warm welcome! I am glad to be part of it because I see how this team looks to build up and support the students, staff and families of DCS, as well as those in the community. I look forward to getting to know the DCS community more as the year continues!”

This past weekend 3 of our Chargers Volleyball teams were in action!

The Junior Boys were at VIU! On day one they earned match wins over Mark Isfeld (Courtenay) and Gulf Islands! They played so well!! They also nearly defeated Claremont, one of the best teams on the Island.

The Senior Girls Team played at Camosun, and they continue to make progress as evidenced by a great start in the Playoffs, where they had a big 2 set victory over Esquimalt! They finished the tournament with an exciting 3rd set victory over Parkland Secondary. Great job girls!

The Senior Boys played hard at the VIU tournament. They earned a strong victory over Mark Isfeld Secondary (Courtenay) in round robin action. Despite injuries, the team continues grow in teamwork and strength!

DCS is thankful for Mrs. Caley Wall, who always has a warm smile and positive word for everyone. She answered a few questions to help us introduce her to you:

Name: Mrs. Wall
Role: Grade 8/9 Humanities Teacher

What excites you about learning?
"I love the ongoing nature of learning, that we are constantly building on the foundations that have been laid. It excites me that learning allows us to do things that were once out of reach. Learning enables us to understand the world, and our Creator, in new and dynamic ways."

Why are you glad to be part of our team?
"I am glad to be a part of the DCS community because I feel that the selfless care, energy, and time this team offers its students embodies the love of Jesus and aligns with my own passion to do the same. His love is contagious, life-changing and vital to our valley. We can make a difference in the lives of our students, our community, and our world with His love."
