Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island and, due to significant growth, invites applications for the following anticipated school counsellor position commencing the 2024-2025 school year.

School Counsellor

This 1.0 FTE position involves working with a diverse group of learners from a wide variety of backgrounds, being part of a collaborative learning environment and being open to unique counselling opportunities in a Christian setting.

Specific Duties

  • Short-term counselling and crisis intervention for students on two campuses 
  • Provide counselling or support teachers in educating students regarding well-being
  • Maintain confidential records of interactions with students
  • Guidance for teachers in identifying students who may require support or intervention
  • Consult with Directors of Student Support 
  • Facilitate communication with parents to offer consistent and coordinated advice in supporting their children from a faith based perspective
  • Interact with students who come from a variety of backgrounds where faith and culture plays a significant role

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Counseling or equivalent
  • Registered Counselor, RCC or CCC
  • Teaching experience would be an asset
  • Christian counselling or perspective courses would be an asset

DCS  hosts over 450 PreK-12 students, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes.
